MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Speaking at a campaign fundraiser in Washington on Wednesday, Biden said that US ally Japan faces economic issues as the country is "xenophobic," adding that the same can be said about China and Russia.
The remark of US President Joe Biden about "xenophobia" in Russia does not reflect the reality in the country, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.
"We believe that this statement [by Biden] reflects the reality exactly the opposite," Peskov told reporters.
Peskov also gave a number of examples of US actions.
"Is it Russia that forces its companies to refuse contracts with someone? Is it Russia that imposes sometimes absolutely thuggish restrictions on some companies, guided solely by the criteria of nationality?" he said.
