Angola to Overtake South Africa This Year in Terms of Economic Growth, IMF Says

According to the International Monetary Fund, the economic outlook for sub-Saharan Africa is showing a positive trend, with growth projected to rise from 3.4% in 2023 to 3.8% in 2024. The majority of countries in the region are expecting an increase in growth.
Angola will overtake South Africa this year in terms of economic growth, according to the International Monetary Fund.
Ethiopia, Kenya and Nigeria are expected to maintain their positions in the rankings this year. Meanwhile, Niger and Senegal are projected to become the first and second fastest-growing economies in the CFA franc zone in 2024.
According to IMF, In terms of GDP, South Africa became the largest economy in Africa in 2024, with Nigeria and Ethiopia ranking fourth and fifth. Kenya and Angola, meanwhile, took the seventh and eighth positions.
