In an interview to Sputnik Africa, the country's Interim President Ibrahim Traore justified the moves, noting that Burkina Faso "will not tolerate the media," which "intoxicates" and "manipulates" its people.
Burkina Faso's Superior Council of Communication on Thursday suspended the Voice of America and BBC broadcasts for two weeks.
The
suspension was ordered following the broadcast of information on a Human Rights Watch report accusing the Burkinabe army of abuses against civilians.
