Malian Authorities Suspend Activities of Political Parties & Associations

The transitional military government came to power in Mali in May 2021 through a military coup. The coup started on the night of May 24, when the Malian army, led by then-Vice President Assimi Goita, arrested interim President Bah N'daw and Prime Minister Moctar Ouane. Goita announced that N'daw and Ouane had been stripped of their powers.
The Malian authorities have suspended the activities of political parties and associations.

Malians Approved Constitutional Changes, Says Election Body
Mali's interim president, Assimi Goita, has issued a decree suspending the activities of political parties and associations of a political nature throughout the national territory until further notice due to public order concerns.
The document was read on state television Wednesday night by Colonel Abdoulaye Maiga, the government spokesman.
