BEIJING (Sputnik) - The Chinese Foreign Minister's comments came during his meeting with the Russian Foreign Minister, who is on an official visit to China on April 8-9.
Russia and China will support each other and strengthen multilateral interaction, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Tuesday, adding that Beijing will also support the stable development of Russia under the leadership of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Within the framework of Russia’s chairmanship in BRICS and China’s chairmanship in the SCO [Shanghai Cooperation Organization] from the second half of the year, we will provide each other with strong support and increase our multilateral interaction," Wang said.
Moscow and Beijing will continue to strengthen strategic cooperation on the world stage, the Chinese minister added.
Wang Yi again conveyed congratulations on behalf of China to the Russians on Putin's reelection with a "record level of support."
"As Russia's friendly neighbor and comprehensive strategic partner, we will resolutely support Russia's stable development and revival under the leadership of President Putin," Wang said.
The Chinese top diplomat added that unilateral sanctions are an act of intimidation, China and Russia are against this mechanism and all countries must unite to resist it.
"Unilateral sanctions are a typical act of intimidation, which violates international law, a fair and legitimate international order, and also goes against the trend of world development and progress," Wang said.
Wang Yi also said that Russia and China will continue cooperation in the fight against terrorism, including through multilateral mechanisms, after the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert venue near Moscow.

Russia, China to Continue Cooperation in Fight Against Terrorism, Lavrov Says

Russia and China will continue cooperation in the fight against terrorism, including through multilateral mechanisms, after the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert venue near Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.
"I thank the Chinese side for their condolences in connection with the terrorist attack in the Moscow region on March 22, and for supporting Russia’s fight against terrorism; all those involved will certainly be punished. And our cooperation on counter-terrorism will continue, including within the framework of multilateral institutions," Lavrov said during a meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi.

Lavrov also noted that the Russian presidential election held in March took place under conditions of "severe external pressure from the West and a surge in terrorist attacks by the Kiev regime."
"As you know, shelling of Russian cities has become more frequent, leading to civilian casualties, and numerous attempts by hackers to hack our electoral system have been registered," the Russian diplomat added.
