Built at a cost of $20 billion by Nigerian tycoon Aliko Dangote, the refinery, which can process up to 650,000 barrels per day (bpd), is expected to become the largest facility in both Africa and Europe when it reaches full capacity.
Nigeria's Dangote oil refinery has begun selling petroleum products to the domestic market, media reported, citing a company executive, Devakumar Edwin.
"We have substantial quantities. Products are being evacuated both by sea and road. Ships are lining up one after another to load diesel and aviation jet fuel," he was quoted by the media as saying.

He added that "ships load a minimum of 26 million liters, though we try to push for 37 million liter vessels, for ease of operations."
In mid-February, it was announced that the refinery was getting ready to start its fuel exports.
