MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Earlier in March, South Africa went back to the International Court of Justice to call for additional provisional measures against Israel that would address widespread starvation among Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.
Israel should ensure that its military does not commit violations of the rights of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) said on Thursday.
"The State of Israel shall... Ensure with immediate effect that its military does not commit acts which constitute a violation of any of the rights of the Palestinians in Gaza as a protected group under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, including by preventing, through any action, the delivery of urgently needed humanitarian assistance," the ICJ press release read.
In late December, South Africa filed a case against Israel at the ICJ, requesting emergency measures to stop the "genocide" in Gaza. On January 26, the court ordered Israel to take "all measures within its power" to prevent genocide in the region, as well as to promptly provide essential services and humanitarian aid.
