US President Joe Biden on Saturday signed a $1.2 trillion funding bill passed by Congress to avert a partial government shutdown, the White House said. The spending bill rejects "extreme cuts from House Republicans" and expands "access to child care, invests in cancer research, funds mental health and substance use care, advances American leadership abroad, and provides resources to secure the border" that the Biden administration sought to include, the statement read.The legislation funds six appropriations areas of the federal government through September 30.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The bill allocates funds to the US Departments of Defense, Financial Services, Homeland Security, Labor, Health, and Education, the Legislative Branch, and State and Foreign Operations, including $300 million for the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative and $3.3 billion for Israel.
US President Joe Biden on Saturday signed a
$1.2 trillion funding bill passed by Congress to avert a partial government shutdown, the White House said.
"The bipartisan funding bill I just signed keeps the government open, invests in the American people, and strengthens our economy and national security," Biden was quoted as saying in the statement.
The spending bill rejects "extreme cuts from House
Republicans" and expands "access to child care, invests in cancer research, funds mental health and substance use care, advances American leadership abroad, and provides resources to secure the border" that the Biden administration sought to include, the statement read.
