SAMARA, Russia (Sputnik) - Ukrainian drones attacked the Kuybyshevsky Oil Refinery in the Russian region of Samara, causing a fire outbreak, as well as attempted to attack another refinery, Regional Governor Dmitry Azarov said on Saturday morning.
“Today at night, UAVs attacked oil refining facilities of the region. A fire in a primary oil refining column broke out at the Kuybyshevsky Oil Refinery as a result. There have been no casualties or victims. ... An attack attempt on Novokuybyshevsky Oil Refinery was successfully repelled,” Azarov said.
At 10.05 am (06:05 GMT), the fire at the Kuybyshevsky Oil Refinery was fully extinguished, the regional authorities told Sputnik.
The Kuybyshevsky Refinery is one of the largest enterprises of the oil industry in Russia's Samara Region. The refinery has been running since 1945.
