The first trilateral exercise between the countries' fleets took place over three days in 2022 and aimed to develop capabilities to counter common threats, enhance interoperability, and strengthen maritime cooperation through training and the exchange of best practices.
A joint exercise between the navies of Mozambique, Tanzania, and India began on Thursday off the coast of East Africa in the Indian Ocean, the Indian Navy said.
The exercise is scheduled for March 21-29 and will be divided into two phases, the navy added.
In the first phase, from March 21 to 24, the Indian ships Tir and Sujata will join other participating navies in the ports of Zanzibar and Maputo.
"This phase would begin with a Planning Conference followed by conduct of joint harbor training activities like Damage Control, Fire Fighting, Visit Board Search and Seizure procedures, Medical Lectures, Casualty Evacuation and Diving operations," the statement said.

The second phase, from March 24 to 27, will include dealing with asymmetric threats, practicing search and seizure procedures, practicing boat handling skills, conducting maneuvers and live-fire exercises, according to the Indian Navy. Joint surveillance of exclusive economic zones is also planned.
The authorities added that while in port, the Indian Navy ships will be open to visitors, which will facilitate sports and cultural exchanges with the participating navies.
The first trilateral exercise in October 2022 involved the Indian INS Tarkash and the navies of Tanzania and Mozambique.
