MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Last week, the European Commission said it would study the possibility of imposing import restrictions on Russian agricultural products.
The European Union will not obstruct the export of Russian food products to the countries of the Global South, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Friday.
"We do not want Russian grain or Belarusian grain in the EU market but transit is still possible and of course the seamless supply of grain to the Global South and other regions of the world is also guaranteed," von der Leyen told a press conference after the end of the European Council meeting in Brussels.
The European Commission on Friday officially published its proposal to introduce increased duties on imports of grain, oilseeds and processed products from Russia and Belarus to the territory of the European Union.
