The conflict in Sudan has worsened the situation in the country but Western measures applied against Sudan have undermined the stability of its society, Russia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Anna Evstigneeva said on Wednesday.Evstigneeva reiterated that it is important to continue working with the current authorities on aid distribution. Earlier this week, the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child said that the lives of 24 million Sudanese children have been put in peril due to the raging internal military conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) that has been ongoing for almost a year. In April 2023, clashes broke out between the Sudanese army and the RSF. They have since introduced some temporary nationwide ceasefires, but none has helped settle the conflict. In late October, the parties to the conflict resumed negotiations, mediated by Saudi Arabia in Jeddah, but the hostilities have continued.

UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) - Last month, Russian Ambassador to Sudan Andrey Chernovol told Sputnik that the country is ready to provide assistance to Sudan in resolving the current military-political crisis, but Moscow does not insist on this.
The conflict in Sudan has worsened the situation in the country but Western measures applied against Sudan have undermined the stability of its society, Russia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the
UN Anna Evstigneeva said on Wednesday.
“The conflict has clearly worsened the humanitarian situation in Sudan. But one should not forget that the economic and other restrictive measures applied by the West against the country have undermined the stability of Sudanese society,” Evstigneeva said during the Security Council meeting on Sudan.
Evstigneeva reiterated that it is important to continue working with the current authorities on aid distribution.
