Exactly 10 years ago, the Crimean Peninsula became Russian again. The Republic of Crimea rejoined Russia on March 18, 2014.
Crimea's reunification with Russia followed a referendum in which the peninsula's population voted 96.6% in favor of joining Russia. The peninsula has enjoyed rapid development as an integral part of Russia ever since.
