Earlier, Fidel Ngowandika, an adviser to the Central African president, said that the country's authorities had asked for a Russian base to be stationed on its territory. Ngowuandika said the existing infrastructure in Berengo would allow the deployment of up to 10,000 troops.
Discussions on the placement of a Russian military base on the territory of the Central African Republic (CAR) continue, CAR Prime Minister Felix Moloua told Russian media.

"Discussions are ongoing. In any case, the intention is there, it has been expressed. Certainly, discussions are continuing in order to arrive at a position that the CAR would like to reach in our exchanges," he said, responding to a question about the stage of the issue of deploying a Russian military base in the Central African Republic.

Russian Ambassador to Bangui Alexander Bikantov said in an interview with Russian media that the appearance of a Russian military base on the territory of the CAR would help strengthen security in the country.
Bikantov noted that negotiations on the establishment of the base are currently being conducted by the defense ministries of the two countries.
