Gabon's membership in the Economic Community of Central African States was reinstated on Saturday, more than half a year after a military coup in the country.

On Saturday, representatives of the 11 ECCAS countries said they had witnessed "significant progress" in the process of returning to constitutional order in Gabon, "marked by popular support and the establishment of a timetable for a 24-month transition".

In addition, the organization announced the lifting of sanctions against the country.
