MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The new strategy includes the development of a very wide range of spheres, including agriculture, environmental protection, healthcare, telecommunications, the military industry and much more.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved the strategy for scientific and technological development of Russia for the next decade, data on the government portal of legal information showed on Wednesday.
"To approve the attached Strategy for Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Federation," the decree read.
The list of the country's development priorities set in the document includes transition to personalized, preventive medicine and high-tech health care, building a clean and efficient energy industry, increasing the connectivity of Russian territory with the use of intelligent transport, energy and telecommunication systems, transition to highly productive and clean agriculture as well as a shift to advanced technologies for designing high-tech products, including with the use of artificial intelligence.
The strategy also determines major challenges for the Russian state and society, including, new hybrid external threats to national security, military, informational, terrorist and biological threats, as well as the increasing risk of the emergence of new infections and the return of those that have previously disappeared, with Russian science and technology positioned in the document as key response tools.
Some other serious challenges include the transformation of the global world order accompanied by growing geopolitical and economic instability and international conflicts, running out of opportunities for the Russian economy to grow by means of extensive exploitation of raw materials, the demographic problem, negative human impact on the environment, the repletion of natural resources, as well as the need to ensure the country's food security.
Among the environmental challenges are also the need for a more energy efficient economy, as well as for effective development and the use of Russian territory. In addition, the document mentions the need to strengthen Russia's position in economic, scientific and military exploration of airspace and outer space as well as of the World Ocean, the Arctic and Antarctic.
Putin has repeatedly said that this strategy is equal in importance to the strategy of national security.
