UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) - The United States on Tuesday vetoed an Algeria-drafted UN Security Council resolution that was calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, a Sputnik correspondent reported.
Thirteen members of the
UN Security Council voted in favor, with the United Kingdom abstaining.
The draft resolution demanded "an immediate humanitarian ceasefire that must be respected by all parties."
