UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) - In July 2023, Russia's First Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyansky said that Ukraine uses terrorist means to achieve political goals, adding that this was facilitated by the United States and the European Union, who financed the Maidan coup in Ukraine in 2014.
Eradicating terrorism may be impossible as long as terrorists are utilized by the Western countries to topple governments or wage proxy wars, Russian Deputy Envoy to the United Nations Maria Zabolotskaya said.
"We are convinced that it will not be possible to eradicate this global problem as long as terrorists and extremists are used by a number of Western states to overthrow regimes that have fallen out of favor in proxy wars, or in other ways to achieve their general political goals," Zabolotskaya said during a UN Security Council meeting on Thursday.
The Russian diplomat said the presence of terrorist groups clearly indicates the persistence and growth of tensions in the Middle East, as well as in certain parts of Africa and Afghanistan.
