WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - On Friday, US President Joe Biden claimed he convinced his Mexican counterpart to "open the gate" of the crossing between Egypt and Gaza, while he was actually referring to Egyptian leader Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The White House press secretary said on Friday "it happens" when she commented on President Joe Biden mixing up the names of leaders of
Egypt and Mexico and pointed to House Speaker Mike Johnson's recent slipup.
"It happens, it truly, truly happens," Karine Jean-Pierre told a briefing, when asked about concerns regarding the president's memory.
Jean-Pierre said that "many of us" misspeak and cited the example of Speaker Johnson's recent statement on TV where he said he supports Iran when he meant to say he supports Israel.
