While mainstream Western media and polititians tend to call Russia's special operation in Ukraine an "invasion," Moscow has repeatedly explained that its actions are in fact aimed at ending the war that Kiev has waged aginst the Donbass region since 2014.
Vladimir Putin's explanations realted to the Ukraine conflict made during the interview with US journalist Carlson will reinforce doubts about the widely accepted concept of "invasion" of Ukraine, Rayane Ben Amor, Tunisian political analyst and journalist told Sputnik Africa.
"The information war is a central element of the conflict in Ukraine. All means are being used to portray Vladimir Putin as a bloodthirsty savage. The Americans have always done this to justify wars and their investments in the military-industrial complex. If someone is prepared to take an opposing point of view, a group of paid 'journalists' begins to express serious doubts about the interviewee's credibility," he said.
The double standards are already working in the Gaza Strip, he noted.
"Just look at what is happening in the Gaza Strip right now. The impoverished population is being annihilated by American weapons supplied to the IDF, while the US has mobilized all 'international law' to condemn Russia. The economy and military cooperation are the only compasses for the West. The idealistic framework of international relations is merely a veil for tyranny," he said.
