Russian President Putin Holds Talks With Chadian Leader Deby

Earlier, the Chadian then-President, Idriss Deby, met twice with the Russian president - in March 2013 on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in South Africa and in September 2016 during the G20 meeting in China. In October 2019, Deby came to the Russian city of Sochi to participate in the first Russia-Africa summit.

Russia intends to expand cooperation with African countries, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday, commenting on the upcoming meeting.
"Chad is one of the African countries that is our potential partner. All the possibilities of our interaction are far from being revealed, there is something to work on. The foreign minister of Chad took part in the recent Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg, and this official visit is being carried out as a continuation of these processes. We are committed to continuing to expand our engagement with African countries," Peskov told reporters.
