As a result of the attack, 27 civilians were killed and 25 others injured, including 2 teenagers, according to the authorities of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).
Ukraine's Sunday attacks on Donetsk, civilian infrastructure and people are a monstrous act of terrorism, Kremlin Spokesman, Dmitry Peskov said.
"We strongly condemn this, and naturally the special military operation will continue in order to protect our people from this danger," Peskov told reporters, adding that the attack was "monstrous act of terrorism, as weapons are used indiscriminately."
On Sunday, following the shelling, which left 27 civilian killed and 25 others injured, the Russian Foreign Ministry strongly denounced the strike, urging the foreign governments and international organizations to condemn it as well.
The ministry called the strike a "
barbaric terrorist act against Russia's civilian population," highlighting that such actions reveal Kiev's lack of political will "for peace and diplomatic settlement of the conflict."
The DPR has declared Monday a day of mourning for the
victims of the aggression of the Kiev regime against the civilian population. This attack will be one of the key issues at the Monday UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine requested by Russia, which will be attended by the Russian Foreign Minister.
