Record 14.9Mln Tourists Visited Egypt in 2023, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Says

CAIRO (Sputnik) - As many as 14.9 million tourists visited Egypt in 2023, marking the new record high number of tourists since the previous record was set in 2010, Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Issa said Wednesday.
"The year 2023 saw record numbers for inbound tourism to Egypt, with 14.906 million tourists recorded during the year," Issa told a government meeting, as quoted by the Egyptian cabinet.
The previous record was set in 2010 when 14.7 million tourists visited the country, he said, adding that a large influx of tourists was observed in the fourth quarter of 2023.
Egyptian Vice Minister for Tourism Ghada Shalaby has earlier said that Egypt aims to attract up to 30 million tourists in 2028.
