In September 2023, journalist and "ufologist" Jaime Maussan presented to the Mexican Congress "two humanoid mummies" discovered in Peru. He claimed that the bodies, 60 centimeters long and about a thousand years old, belonged to aliens.
Peru's National Institute of Forensic Medicine and Forensic Science has definitively disproved the extraterrestrial alien origin of the mummies found in the Nazca Desert in the south of the country, stating that the "humanoids" are made up of animal and human remains.

"They're not extraterrestrials. They're dolls made from animal bones from this planet joined together with modern synthetic glue," Flavio Estrada, an archeologist with Peru's Institute for Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences. "It's totally a made-up story."

Following the presentation of the forensic report from the prosecution that closes a three-month investigation, Peru's Ministry of Culture has described the story of the alleged extraterrestrial origin of the Nazca Lines as a fraud, which were exhibited in the Mexican Congress as if they were aliens.
In mid-September 2023, Mexican journalist and "ufologist" Jaime Maussan presented the mummies of two alleged "humanoids" during an online-streamed congressional hearing in Mexico, claiming they proved the existence of extraterrestrials.

'Alien Corpses' From Peru Displayed in Mexican Parliament
The corpses, displayed in windowed boxes and reportedly found in Cusco, Peru, were described as not part of "our terrestrial evolution," with three long fingers, elongated skulls, and slender bodies.
Maussan insisted that the specimens were found in diatom mines and later fossilized, and that radiocarbon and molecular analysis shows that they are about 1000 years old, with a genetic code very different from that of humans. X-rays were also presented, suggesting the presence of eggs inside the figures. Maussan concluded that "we are not alone in this vast universe" and argued for the acceptance of this reality.
The hearing aimed to address the phenomenon in the Airspace Protection Law, potentially making Mexico the first country to recognize the presence of extraterrestrials on Earth.
