Both the Republic of Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) — neighboring countries in Central Africa — have been hit by torrential rains in the past few months, causing floods and landslides that have claimed dozens of lives.
In recent months, over 300 people have lost their lives due to flooding caused by the Congo River, which has reached its highest level in more than 60 years, the media reported.
The flooding has affected the entire Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and its neighbor, the Republic of Congo.
Moreover, an urgent call for national and worldwide solidarity was launched by Modeste Mutinga Mutuishayi, the Minister of Social Affairs, Humanitarian Actions and National Solidarity of the DRC, to aid the numerous victims of the recent natural disaster that struck the country, the reports revealed.

During the meeting, the minister reportedly said that at least 43,750 houses collapsed, affecting more than 300,000 households. Additional damaged properties included 1,325 schools, 269 health facilities, 41 marketplaces, and 85 roads.

Furthermore, he warned that dirty water and inadequate sanitation could lead to epidemics, causing more deaths.
