MOSCOW, January 3 (Sputnik) - A total of 248 Russian military personnel have been returned from Ukrainian captivity, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.
According to the ministry, the return of the military was made possible thanks to the mediation participation of the United Arab Emirates.

"On January 3, as a result of a complex negotiation process, 248 Russian servicemen were returned from the territory controlled by the Kiev regime. The return of the Russian servicemen from captivity was made possible thanks to the mediatory involvement of the humanitarian character of the United Arab Emirates," the ministry said.

All released Russian servicemen are provided with the necessary medical and psychological assistance and will undergo treatment and rehabilitation in medical institutions of the Russian Defense Ministry, the statement added.
