Turkish Foreign Ministry Urges Citizens to Avoid Traveling to Sudan
ANKARA (Sputnik) - Fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces has been raging in the North African country since mid-April. The International Committee of the Red Cross fears it could lead to disease outbreaks and a fatal collapse of the health system.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry urged the country's citizens to avoid traveling to Sudan "except for urgent reasons" as the security situation in the country
has deteriorated.
"We regret to note that the security situation in Sudan has deteriorated. In the current circumstances and given the opportunities that may arise, our citizens are advised to avoid traveling to Sudan unless for urgent reasons. Our citizens still in Sudan should continue to monitor additional warnings and announcements that may be issued by our ministry and our embassy in Khartoum, and take required measures to ensure their personal safety,” the ministry said in a statement.
