VIENNA (Sputnik) – The escalating conflict between Israel and Palestine, now in its third month, has left more than 20,000 dead and 52,000 injured in the Gaza Strip and more than a thousand dead in Israel.
The forced eviction of Palestinians to Egypt and Jordan is part of Israel's strategy, Palestinian Ambassador to Vienna Salah Abdel-Shafi told Sputnik.
"We believe this is Israel’s plan - forced evictions both in Gaza, to make people go to Egypt, and in the West Bank, so that it leads to forced evictions to Jordan," Abdel-Shafi said.
On October 7, the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas launched a surprise large-scale rocket attack on Israel from the Gaza Strip, breaching the border and killing and capturing residents of nearby Israeli military installations and population centers. The movement said its operation, Al-Aqsa Flood, was in response to Israel's provocations and occupation of the Palestinian territories.
Israel retaliated by ordering a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip, home to more than 2 million people, cutting off water, food and fuel supplies. On October 27, Israel launched a large-scale ground invasion of Gaza, ostensibly to destroy Hamas militants and rescue hostages.
On November 24, Qatar brokered an agreement between Israel and Hamas for a temporary cease-fire, the exchange of some prisoners and hostages, and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. The ceasefire was extended several times, but fighting resumed on December 1.

Israel Reportedly Proposes One-Week Truce to Hamas for Return of 35 Hostages
Israel has proposed a one-week humanitarian pause to Hamas in exchange for the return of 35 hostages held by the Palestinian movement, including the wounded, women and the elderly, the US media reported on Friday, citing a senior US official.
The official declined to comment on whether the Hamas leader in the Gaza Strip, Yahya Sinwar, had responded to Israel's latest proposal on the release of hostages, the report said.
The group of 35 hostages would possibly include the three elderly men abducted from Nir Oz kibbutz in southern Israel near the Gaza Strip's border, who have recently appeared in a video released by the Hamas' military wing, the report also said.

Israel Reportedly Struck Gazan Churches Using Coordinates It Received From Congress
The Israeli military used the locations of a catholic church and a convent in Gaza obtained from US congressional staff to later strike them with rockets and snipers, Politico reported citing a series of emails from October.
In an attempt to prevent Israeli strikes on religious sites in Gaza, one of the largest Christian aid organizations there, Catholic Relief Services, passed on the coordinates of several sites in the enclave to Senate staffers, who, in turn, sent them to Israel, the report said on Thursday.
The move by the aid organization was an attempt to get a commitment from Israel not to target at least four buildings in Gaza, including the two that were later struck by the Israeli military, according to the report.
On more than one occasion, church leaders had shared GPS satellite data with the Israeli military, but it didn’t help to prevent the deadly incident, according to Father Ibrahim Nino, a spokesperson for the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem cited in the report.

Palestine Red Crescent Says Lost Contact With Ambulance Center in Jabalia
The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said on Thursday it had no contact with the ambulance center in the city of Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip and that women and children were trapped there.
Earlier in the day, the PRCS said that the Israeli military continued shelling objects in the vicinity of the ambulance center, in which 127 people were trapped, including medical workers, volunteers and their family members, as well as 22 wounded.
"Contact with our teams at the Jabalia ambulance center is still cut off. We have received reports of the occupation forces raiding the center, arresting all crews and paramedics, taking them to an unknown location. Women and children remain trapped alone inside the center," the PRCS wrote on X.

Gaza’s Al-Shifa Hospital Reportedly Not Used as Hamas Command Center Despite Israeli Claims
Hamas did not utilize the al-Shifa Hospital in the Gaza Strip as a command and control center, despite Israeli claims to the contrary in justification of their military operations there, the Washington Post reported on Thursday.
Rooms at the facility that were connected to a tunnel network underneath Gaza show no signs of military use by Hamas, the report said, citing open-source intelligence, satellite imagery and Israel Defense Force (IDF) materials.
None of the five buildings identified by IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari as being linked to Hamas appear to be connected to the tunnel network, the report said.
There is no evidence indicating that the tunnel network could be accessed via the hospital wards, the report added.
