WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - The US House of Representatives passed a resolution to formalize an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, as lawmakers continue to gather evidence about the Biden family’s alleged criminal activities.
House lawmakers passed the resolution along partisan lines in a vote of 221-212 on Wednesday. The resolution directs the House Ways and Means, Judiciary and Oversight committees to continue their investigations into alleged foreign influence peddling and bribery by the Biden family.
Formalizing the inquiry grants the panels stronger subpoena enforcement power, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise said in a statement on the resolution earlier this week.

The US House of Representatives takes its impeachment responsibility seriously and will not prejudge the outcome of its investigation, House Republican leadership said in a joint statement on Wednesday.
The Biden administration has repeatedly misled the public and stonewalled the House’s investigation, the statement said.
The American people deserve answers to questions about the Biden family’s alleged criminal activity, the statement added.
