Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday congratulated the team of international media group Rossiya Segodnya on its 10th anniversary, expressing the hope that the group will remain at the top of its game as one of the leaders in the information field both domestically and internationally.

"Over the years, the media group unites a large, close-knit team of talented professionals, who promptly and accurately cover important events in our country and in the world... I am confident that [Rossiya Segodnya] will continue to keep the bar high for the quality of its work and maintain its position as one of the recognized leaders of the domestic and international information space," Putin wrote in a message of greetings.

The Russian leader praised the staff for "continuing the creative traditions" of their predecessors and passing on their expertise to junior employees.
Russian upper house speaker Valentina Matvienko also congratulated Rossiya Segodnya and its team, praising their professionalism, prompt coverage and adherence to journalism ethics.

"Over the past decade, Rossiya Segodnya has become a powerful multiprofile company whose audience is growing both in our country and abroad," she said, adding that the media group is conveying "the truth about our country, its honest and open position to the whole world, thus strengthening mutual understanding between peoples."

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also expressed warm wishes to the Rossiya Segodnya team and its general director, Dmitry Kiselev.

"The media group rightfully occupies a leading position among domestic media. It worthily represents our country in the international arena, releasing a wide range of news products in 30 languages and actively cooperating with more than 100 foreign partners," Lavrov’s congratulatory letter says.

The minister especially noted that in an era of unprecedented pressure on Russian media abroad, the Rossiya Segodnya team "continues to meet the high professional standards of honest journalism."

"[Russian Foreign Ministry] values our good comradely relations. We count on their further development and strengthening in order to effectively provide information support for Russia’s foreign policy course," Lavrov emphasized. "I wish you and all the employees of Rossiya Segodnya health, new successes in creative pursuits and all the best."
