Earlier in the week, investigative journalism organization Centre for Climate Reporting said, citing leaked briefing documents, that the UAE wanted to discuss fossil fuel deals with 15 nations on the sidelines of COP28 in Dubai. He added that he had never seen topics cited by the investigative journalists or discussed them with anyone, and described the report "an attempt to undermine the work of the COP28 presidency" ahead of the start of the climate talks on Thursday.COP28 will take place in Dubai from November 30 to December 12 and is intended to mark a turning point in global action to combat climate change, serving as a comprehensive review of the progress and ambitions of countries committed to the Paris Agreement. This agreement aims to limit global warming to well below 2°C, preferably limiting it to 1.5°C compared to pre-industrial levels.

COP28 Chief Denies Claims UAE Wanted to Use Climate Talks to Strike Oil, Gas Deals
MOSCOW (Sputnik) - UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) chief Sultan Al Jaber on Wednesday dismissed a report alleging that the United Arab Emirates had planned to use the upcoming summit as a platform to discuss possible oil and gas deals.
Earlier in the week, investigative journalism organization Centre for Climate Reporting said, citing leaked briefing documents, that the UAE wanted to discuss fossil fuel deals with 15 nations on the sidelines of
COP28 in Dubai.
"These allegations are false, not true, incorrect and not accurate," Al Jaber, who also runs state-owned oil giant Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, told reporters.
He added that he had never seen topics cited by the investigative journalists or discussed them with anyone, and described the report "an attempt to undermine the work of the COP28 presidency" ahead of the start of the climate talks on Thursday.
COP28 will take place in Dubai from November 30 to December 12 and is intended to mark a turning point in global action to combat
climate change, serving as a comprehensive review of the progress and ambitions of countries committed to the Paris Agreement.
This agreement aims to limit
global warming to well below 2°C, preferably limiting it to 1.5°C compared to pre-industrial levels.
