Russia and African countries continue close cooperation on the creation of free trade zones, as highlighted by former South African President Thabo Mbeki at the Primakov Readings forum held in the Russian capital. The ex-president noted that building railways, organizing air and sea routes are essential to ensuring the free movement of people and goods on the continent.
He emphasized the crucial role of energy in the development of infrastructure in African countries, stressing that there is a shortage of energy on the continent, and Russia can participate in the process of providing Africa with energy resources.

On Monday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held talks with Mbeki, who arrived in Moscow to participate in the Primakov Readings International Scientific and Expert Forum, taking place on November 27-28. During the meeting, Mbeki and Lavrov discussed various aspects of the bilateral strategic partnership, including the strengthening of political, trade, economic and cultural ties.
