MOSCOW, November 24 (Sputnik) - Russian air defenses shot down 13 Ukrainian drones over Crimea and three more over the Volgograd Region, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
Since launching a counteroffensive in June, Ukraine has made attempts to use drones to target Russian territory. New attacks were prevented on Friday's night.

"Air defense systems on duty destroyed 16 UAVs, of which 13 were over the Crimean Peninsula and three over the territory of the Volgograd Region," the ministry said.

It said that in this way, Ukraine's attempt to carry out a terrorist attack using aircraft-type drones against targets on Russian territory was stopped at night.
The Russian Special Military Operation was launched on February 24, 2022, to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine as well as to "protect people who have been subjected to genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years," as Russian President Vladimir Putin put it.
