MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) seeks to bring the bilateral relationship with Russia to an even higher level, UAE Ambassador to Russia Mohammed Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber said Tuesday.
Relations between Russia and the United Arab Emirates have been actively developing. For example, in July, Russia and other BRICS countries supported the presidency of the Middle Eastern country at the United Nations Framework Conference on Climate Change.
In the same month, the countries signed a memorandum on joint promotion of Russian companies in the markets of the Middle East and North Africa. Now, the goal of the UAE is to further strengthen its bilateral ties with Russia.
"The UAE-Russia relationship has seen significant progress recently, and we seek to bring the relationship to an even higher level," the ambassador told a reception ahead of the 52nd UAE National Day.

The ambassador recalled UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin met on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in 2023, in which the UAE participated as a guest country.
"The leaders discussed the development of the UAE-Russia relationship in the context of strategic partnership between the two states and reaffirmed their readiness to further strengthen it. Regarding our bilateral economic interaction, I would like to emphasize that the turnover in 2022 reached nearly $10 billion, a 95% increase compared to 2021. The number of flights between different cities of the two countries reached about 275 per week, which contributes to tourism exchange and growth in the number of tourists in both countries, as well as strengthening cultural and humanitarian interaction," the ambassador said.
He added that the UAE would "continue to work on establishing interactions and strengthen partnerships with the Russian Federation and other countries to achieve common interests, development and prosperity."
The UAE National Day, celebrated on December 2 each year, marks the unification of the seven emirates into a single country in 1971.
