MOSCOW (Sputnik) - At least two people died and 18 were injured in the Liberian capital of Monrovia after a vehicle drove into a crowd gathered near the headquarters of the party of newly-elected President Joseph Boakai, Liberian newspaper Daily Observer reported on Tuesday, citing medical workers.
On Monday, the crowd assembled near the Unity Party headquarters to celebrate the announcement of the election results, the newspaper reported, adding that a private security officer ordered the driver to reduce his speed which he did; however, he then suddenly rammed the crowd at high speed and left the scene.
The vehicle was later reportedly found burned while the driver had disappeared.

Liberia Opposition Leader Wins Presidential Elections
The JFK Medical Center authorities said they received 20 people, two of whom died, while three are in a critical condition and one was placed in intensive care, the newspaper reported.
The medics added that the victims sustained injuries including bone fractures, skull fractures, brain damage, lung and chest trauma, and lacerations, Daily Observer reported.
On Monday, the National Election Commission said that former Vice President of Liberia Joseph Boakai has emerged victorious in the runoff presidential election held on November 14. Boakai won 50.54% of the vote, while incumbent President George Weah secured 49.36%.
