The Pallada freighter set sail from the Ukrainian port of Odesa on November 3, according to data published by the MarineTraffic ship tracker. It ran aground off the northern Turkish port of Eregli at 10 a.m. [07:00 GMT] on Sunday. Another general cargo ship, Turkish-flagged Kafkametler, set out a distress signal as it was drifting toward a breakwater at Eregli, the Turkish maritime authority said, adding a rescue operation was underway. There are estimated to be 12 crew aboard the ship.
