BEIJING (Sputnik) – From October 17 to 18, China hosted the Third Belt and Road International Cooperation Forum under the theme "High-quality Belt and Road Cooperation: Together for Common Development and Prosperity."
Representatives from 151 countries and 41 international organizations attended the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Wednesday.
"Representatives from 151 countries and 41 international organizations arrived in Beijing to attend the forum. Over 10,000 people registered for participation," Wang said.
This shows the "inspiring power and attractive force" of the Belt and Road Initiative, he added.
The third Belt and Road Forum took place in Beijing from October 17-18. It marked the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative.
The Belt and Road Initiative is inspired by the Silk Road, an ancient network of trade routes that spanned the Asian and European continents for about 1,400 years until the mid-15th century. Its new iteration will link China with Central Asian nations, Russia and Europe by land, while maritime routes will connect it to Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa. By June 2023, more than 150 nations had signed Belt and Road cooperation pacts with China.
