BEIJING (Sputnik) - The Belt and Road Initiative, a global infrastructure development strategy, was adopted by China's government in 2013.
On October 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in the Chinese capital of Beijing to participate in the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, a Sputnik correspondent reported.
On Monday, the Kremlin said that Putin would pay an official visit to China from October 17-18. The Russian leader is expected to hold negotiations with Chinese President Xi Jinping to discuss further development of the Russian-Chinese comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation, as well as topical regional and international issues. The Kremlin added that Putin would also hold a number of bilateral meetings with the leaders of the participating states of the forum.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also arrived in Beijing on Monday and met with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi.
Mongolia's Foreign Policy Priority Development of Relations With Russia: President
BEIJING (Sputnik) - Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh said on Tuesday during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin that a priority of his country’s foreign policy is development of relations with Russia.
"The priority of our foreign policy has always been the development of relations with Russia. For many centuries we have treated the Russian people with warmth and friendship," the Mongolian leader said, adding that his country is interested in cooperation with Russia in the fields of energy and transport.
Khurelsukh also invited Putin to visit Mongolia.

"Our relations have always been based on mutual respect, friendship and consideration of each other's interests. And so far, relations between our countries have been developing in many ways, both in the humanitarian and economic spheres, and in the political field," Putin said at a meeting with Prime Minister of Thailand Srettha Thavisin in Beijing.

Putin to Meet With Pakistani Prime Minister as Part of Belt & Road Forum
BEIJING (Sputnik) - Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold a meeting with Pakistan's caretaker prime minister, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, as part of the Third Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday.
"As of today, the final meeting will be with Pakistan. This is what was agreed upon early this morning. Everything else will go according to plan," Peskov told reporters.

BEIJING (Sputnik) - Vietnam considers Russia to be a priority partner in foreign policy, Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong said on Tuesday.
"Vietnam consistently attaches great importance to the comprehensive strategic partnership of our countries, as well as the closeness and close connection that has existed between our countries for many years. Vietnam considers Russia a top priority in its foreign policy," the leader said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Beijing.
Vo Van Thuong also invited the Russian head to pay a visit to his country.
