Israel-Palestine Escalation
Israel was hit by an unprecedented rocket attack from the Gaza Strip on October 7, with Hamas movement's troops infiltrating border areas. On October 8, the Israeli government announced that it had invoked Article 40 of the Basic Law, which means the country was officially in a state of war.

On October 7, the Palestinian group Hamas unleashed a sudden massive rocket attack on Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip, leading Israel to declare a state of war and retaliate the next day.
The ongoing fighting between Israel and Palestine has resulted in more than 2,400 casualties in the Gaza Strip, over a thousand Israeli deaths, with several thousand Israelis and Palestinians injured.
Last Monday, Israel imposed a full-fledged blockage on the Gaza Strip, home to over 2 million people, which has caused a halt in supplies of essential water, food, and fuel.
Over the weekend, the Israeli military ordered Gazans to evacuate from the north of the enclave to the south, warning of imminent attacks on Hamas targets. The Israel Defense Forces added that the city's population will be able to return to their homes "only when another announcement permitting it is made."

Numerous international organizations and human rights groups condemned the ultimatum, saying the mass displacement would have serious humanitarian consequences.

As of Monday, more than 1 million residents of Gaza have been pushed out of their homes due to the escalation, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East said.
