The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has convicted 222 Russian athletes after retesting the Moscow Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) data, WADA President Witold Banka said on Sunday, adding that 58 cases have been charged. In September, the organization reported 218 convictions against Russians. On September 22, WADA left the incomplete status of the Russian anti-doping agency RUSADA intact due to non-compliance of the state legislation with the World Anti-Doping Code, revealed during the virtual audit that took place in September 2022. WADA's decision was to take effect on October 14 unless appealed. RUSADA sent a formal notice disputing WADA's decision on Friday. The sanctions expired in December 2022, however, Banka said that RUSADA would not be automatically reinstated as compliant with the WADA code after December 17 because RUSADA is not compliant with the organization's code.

WADA Punishes 222 Russian Athletes Based on Laboratory Information Management System Data
MOSCOW (Sputnik) - In December 2019, WADA labeled Russian anti-doping agency RUSADA as non-compliant with the World Anti-Doping Code and suspended Russian athletes from competing in major international competitions under the national flag for four years. RUSADA challenged the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has convicted 222 Russian athletes after retesting the Moscow Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) data, WADA President Witold Banka said on Sunday, adding that 58 cases have been charged.
In September, the organization reported 218 convictions against
Russians.
"As of today, 222 convictions have been obtained with an additional 58 charge and 145 cases that remain under investigation," Banka said during the 141st International Olympic Session in Mumbai.
On September 22, WADA left the incomplete status of the Russian anti-doping agency RUSADA intact due to non-compliance of the state legislation with the World Anti-Doping Code,
revealed during the virtual audit that took place in September 2022.
