A musical collaboration between Ugandan star Joseph Mayanja (known as Chameleone), Ghanaian Shatta Wale and Jamaica's reggae group Morgan Heritage is being considered for Grammy Awards in several categories, Chameleone has revealed on his social media.The single, titled Ready, which appeared on the Jamaican band's album the Homeland this April, is being eyed for nomination in the best Global Music Performance and best Music Video categories.44-year-old Jose Chameleone was the first Ugandan contemporary singer to be nominated for any award outside Africa. In 2007, he was nominated for Best African Artist at the MTV Europe Music Awards, but lost to Nigerian rapper D'banj (Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo).Charles Nii Armah Mensah, or Shatta Wale, a Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artiste, won the 2014 International Reggae and World Music Awards and later featured on the hit Already from Beyonce's album Black Is King, which also starred Major Lazer.While this is the first Grammy nomination for African musicians, Jamaican 5-piece band Morgan Heritage has won the award twice. The band's album Strictly Roots won the Grammy Award in the Best Reggae Album category in 2016. The 2023 Grammy Award for Best Global Music Performance went to South Africans Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini & Nomcebo Zikode for single Bayethe.This year's best Music Video category was triumphed by Taylor Swift with her music video All Too Well: The Short Film.
