The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is a biennial international men's football tournament held in Africa and organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Morocco, the host of the AFCON 2025, previously hosted the 16th edition of the championship in 1988.
The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), to be held in Morocco in 2025, will be "the best in the history of the continent", said, on Friday in Marrakech, Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

"The eyes of the world will be on the continent when the AFCON 2025 will be held, and I am convinced that this edition will be the best in the history of African football," stressed Motsepe, in a statement to the press on the sidelines of the plenary session of the Annual Meetings of the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

In this regard, he said he is "proud" of Morocco's leadership in football, recently crowned by its selection to host the 2030 World Cup, jointly with Spain and Portugal.
CAF Executive Committee had unanimously chosen the Kingdom to host the 35th edition of AFCON in 2025.
