On Wednesday, the 53rd session of the Council of the Heads of Security and Intelligence Services of the members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was held in Baku under the auspices of the State Security Service of Azerbaijan.
Russia has information that Western intelligence services are working with terrorist groups in Africa, targeting them to carry out terrorist attacks in the Central African Republic (CAR) and Mali, said Sergey Naryshkin, director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR.
"We have reliable information that Western intelligence services are already working with local terrorist groups, targeting them for terrorist attacks and sabotage against infrastructure in Mali and the Central African Republic," the SVR press bureau quoted Naryshkin as saying at a meeting of the Council of Heads of Security Bodies and Special Intelligence Services of CIS member states.
The head of the Foreign Intelligence Service emphasized that Africa has recently been in the area of ​​special attention of the United States and its allies.
According to him, the West is watching with alarm the growing desire of African states to pursue an independent policy, diversify external relations, and develop regional integration.

According to Naryshkin, the West is conducting subversive work in Africa against countries friendly to Russia; an example of this is the murder of nine Chinese citizens in the Central African Republic against the backdrop of the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Moscow.

"Subversive work is also being carried out against Russia-friendly countries present in Africa. Thus, as a result of an attack on March 20 on a gold mine near the town of Chimbolo in the Central African Republic, committed, according to some data, by the armed organization 'Coalition of Patriots for Change'.
