"We expect one of the best grain harvests. If the weather stays favorable… we will see that figure rise to 135 million of net tonnes, including 90 million of wheat," Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev said. Speaking at an industrial exhibition in Moscow, the minister predicted that this year’s rise in cattle and poultry farming as well as in production of dairy, aquaculture and most food products would be above the five-year average. Russia produced 157.7 million tonnes of grain in 2022, including 104.4 million tonnes of wheat. It exported 60 million tonnes of grain, including 47 million tonnes of wheat. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said grain harvesting was still underway in parts of Russia but suggested there would likely be no repeat of the record yield seen last year. Vegetable and fruit cultivation, on the other hand, has been on the rise, so there will be no lack of quality agrifood products in the stores, he added.
