This week, a considerable increase in bedbug infestations has been reported in the French capital and other cities of the country. Although the French Ministry of Health claimed that there is no need to panic about this, rising numbers of this insect causes widespread concern, media said.
Algerian government reinforced its health measures at its borders in order to prevent the spread of bedbugs from France, media reported.
According to the country's health ministry, the measures include "health monitoring and disinfecting of aircraft, ships, and vehicles at entry points".
The authorities decided to take action on the grounds that the insect could come into the North African state due to a large flow of individuals, travelling from France, the media noted. However, the ministry reassured that no bedbug infestations had been reported yet.
