The Kingdom of Lesotho is a Southern African country which, according to the World Bank, is considered a low-middle income country. Lesotho's economy continues to face a lot of challenges, including the economic havoc left by the pandemic.
On Sunday, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho, Sam Matekane, has called on the United Nations (UN) for more support to the least developed countries. He touched upon the matter of sustainable developmental agenda programs.
The official asserted that there is a silver lining in the climate change
crisis that could help the country turn around its people's fortunes, media reported.
"In Lesotho we have water, sunlight and wind to generate export to the neighbouring countries," stated Matekane as cited by media.
Moreover, he insisted the need for the peaceful role that UN has to play and insisted for its more visible function in global peace.
Lesotho is viewed as a low-middle income country. According to the World Bank, the country's GDP is expected to expand by 2.6% in 2023, 3.1% in 2024, and 3.3% in 2025.
