Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will participate in a range of multilateral meetings, including the UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine, ministerial meetings of BRICS, the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), as well as a meeting of the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter. The Minister is also expected to hold about 20 bilateral meetings.During the UNGA High-Level Week, which began Tuesday, the Russian top diplomat will emphasize the importance of the UN's role as a central coordinating mechanism for protecting the interests of all states.Lavrov will address the General Assembly on Saturday.Moscow will continue to advocate for the preservation of the intergovernmental nature of the organization and strict adherence to its Charter, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.The Russian delegation will present a range of initiatives on key international issues, including strengthening arms control and non-proliferation architecture, preventing the militarization of outer space, forming universal rules of conduct in cyberspace and countering the glorification of Nazism.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov arrived in New York City on Tuesday to participate in the 78th annual session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) as the head of the Russian delegation, a Sputnik correspondent reported.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will participate in a range of multilateral meetings, including the UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine, ministerial meetings of BRICS, the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), as well as a meeting of the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter.
