This year's assembly is being convened under the title "Rebuilding Trust and Reigniting Global Solidarity: Accelerating Action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals Towards Peace, Prosperity, Progress, and Sustainability for All."
The United Nations is hosting Day Two of its annual General Assembly at its headquarters in New York on Wednesday, drawing world leaders together to discuss key global issues.
The 78th session is aimed at addressing the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals, responding to the threats of climate change and coordinating cooperation on health issues.
A number of African leaders are scheduled to address the General Assembly at Wednesday's general debate, including Seychelles President Wavel Ramkalawan, Rwandan head of state Paul Kagame, Namibian leader Hage Geingob, Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and Angolan President Joao Lourenco.
A day earlier, on the first day of the general debate, leaders of South Africa, Algeria, Mozambique, Nigeria and Senegal, delivered their speeches at the session.
