On Tuesday, the 78th session of the UN General Assembly kicked off in New York, bringing world leaders together to deliberate on issues of international concern.
This year's event is titled 'Rebuilding Trust and Reigniting Global Solidarity: Accelerating Action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals Towards Peace, Prosperity, Progress, and Sustainability for All'.
The theme of the event means that the session will focus on achieving and financing the sustainable development goals, promoting peace and security, climate change response and joint action on health.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Algerian leader Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Mozambican President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, Nigerian head of state Bola Tinubu and Senegalese President Macky Sall are expected to address the event.
Russia's delegation will be headed by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the General Assembly.
