Last week, a 6.9 magnitude earthquake hit Morocco close to the southwest of the city of Marrakesh. The earthquake's epicenter was located at a depth of 10 kilometers and the disaster was followed by at least four aftershocks up to 4.8-magnitude.
On September 8, Morocco was hit by the strongest earthquake in the country's history. The 6.9 magnitude quake has killed nearly 3,000 people and injured more than 5,600 since it struck Al-Haouz province, south of the tourist hub of Marrakech, media reported.
On September 14, rescue teams stepped up a massive effort to bring aid to devastated mountain villages in Morocco.
Recently, Moroccan King's cabinet announced in a statement that the government would finance the reconstruction of approximately 50,000 homes that were damaged or destroyed, allocating help depending on the level of destruction.
